Day #35 Dermatomyositis & Anti-Jo Antibodies.
Polymyositis is a progressive, systemic connective tissue disease characterized by immune-mediated striated muscle inflammation. Dermatomyositis pres- ents with symptoms of polymyositis plus cutaneous involvement, although the pathogenesis is different. Most often affect patients 50–70 years of age; the male-to-female ratio is 1:2. Patients may have heliotrope rash, shawl sign, and/or Gottron’s papules (papular rash with scales on the bony prominences of the hands. 
Serum CK and anti-Jo-1 antibodies are seen.
